Activity 1

Wow! its 4.03 am and i just finished Activity 1 let me just say it was a challenge trying to think up ways of ICT usage among the roles of the educator and NOT repeat what my colleagues had said before. I am quite sure also, that i may think up some new ideas as i ruminate on them more.
Incidentally, i was thinking of my own practice and what i do to use ICT to provide me with ideas for my contributions, quite interesting really, i realise also, from reading my colleague's contributions that there is a varied range of ICT skills to be employed, the question is ........how?
A major epiphany if you will, is that while we, the teachers of this generation continue to struggle with ICT and its integration, the new generation will not be so challenged as they would have these things at their fingertips! Yet the cycle goes on, they will have their own challenges to be met (given the rapidly changing course of education) within their own context just as we have.
Back to the present, i do NOT want to be "comfortably equipped to deal with a world that no longer exists" and therefore, my challenge is to become a lifelong learner and to make use of the technologies available to assist me professionally and academically, hopefully, sometime in the future i can call myself a specialist, lol.
So the gauntlet has been thrown, lets meet it, so far i think i employ a fair percentage of ICT strategies among the varied roles of the educator, i look forward to reading the complete listing of what my colleagues have contributed to the same in the hope that i glean some more useful insights into what i can do in the path of ICT.
i leave you all with a video i found on YouTube which discusses why teachers are reluctant to integrate ICT into practice, watch it and decide if the same is true for us here in Trinidad and lets discuss it. Till later then, Derek.
